Dr. Suzann McGeary began her dental career by earning a BS in Dental Hygiene in 1991, followed by private practice experience before pursuing her DDS degree at West Virginia University, where she graduated in 1999. She then embarked on a career blending private practice with academia, serving as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Oral Diagnosis (Radiology and Emergency), Periodontology, Dental Public Health, and Dental Hygiene at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
Currently, Dr. McGeary is a full-time faculty member, Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care and participates in the University Dental Health Services (UDHS) in the private practice at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. McGeary is the course director for the didactic courses in the pre-doctoral courses: Application of Person-Centered Care, and Application of Professional Practice 2. She is also a contributing faculty for the didactic courses: Foundations of Person-Centered Care 1 and Foundations of Person-Centered Care 2. Dr. McGeary is also a clinical instructor in multiple dental clinics at the School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. McGeary holds a certificate in Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers, with a particular interest in their therapeutic applications. She is also engaged in exploring through continuing education the use of dental devices for sleep apnea treatment. She is passionate about the integration of technology in dentistry and is especially interested in utilizing Artificial Intelligence for prevention, early diagnosis, and bridging the gap between dental and medical care. Dr. McGeary has a particular interest in osteoporosis and its implications in oral health and early diagnosis.
Dr. McGeary enjoys her additional responsibilities as a team leader, mentoring, serving on the Infection Control Committee, and Pre-doctoral Admissions Committee.
