Robert A Nerone DMD

Vice Chair / Assistant Professor / Director of Chairside Digital Dentistry

Dr. Robert Nerone attended the University of Pittsburgh as an undergraduate and is where he received his DMD. He subsequently completed a General Practice Residency at UPMC Montefiore Hospital. After serving as an associate in a dental practice for one year, Dr. Nerone bought and ran his general practice for 25 years. He joined Pitt Dental Medicine as a part-time clinical instructor in 2016 in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care. In 2018, Dr. Nerone became a full-time assistant professor and now serves as the Vice-chair of the Department.  

Currently, he serves as the co-course director in the pre-doctoral courses: Principles of Professional Practice, Applications of Professional Practice, and Successful Practice Management. Dr. Nerone also has piloted the dental school CAD-CAM Clinic and works in all of the restorative clinics for pre-doctoral students.  

Dr. Nerone serves on the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine pre-doctoral admissions committee and Dean’s Council. He is the ASDA faculty advisor and the ACT-ARCO advisor for the selection committee. 

He has earned his Fellowship and Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry, demonstrating his strong commitment to learning, growing, and staying current in the field of dental medicine to provide the best oral care to patients and training of students. Only 6% of dentists have earned their AGD Fellowship and only 2% have earned their Mastership.
