Dr. Karen Nedwick-Castro earned her bachelor of science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. She then attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, earning her DMD degree. After completing her residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Nedwick-Castro worked in private practice for 15 years. She then transitioned to teaching at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine as an Clinical Assistant Professor.
Dr. Nedwick-Castro served as director of the Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning Course for second-year dental students for 15 years, including teaching this course to advanced standing students. She has trained students and faculty in the use of AxiUm (electronic health record) software in clinical areas since 2008 until recently. She was a team leader for 15 years, as well as serving on various committees (curriculum, promotions).
Dr. Nedwick-Castro has published the paper “Failure to Control Caries in an AIDS affected Individual” in Case Reports in Dentistry and presented posters at ADEA conferences.
