Program Requirements and Applications
To Apply You Must
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development)
- Have United States work authorization
Procedure for Selection
- Prior experience in healthcare or medical background is preferred, but not required.
- Strength of essay answers on the application: More detailed responses to prompt questions. We look for creative responses that showed the strengths and qualities that set candidates apart.
- Video submissions are considered based on responses to prompt questions. When making selections, our team looks for applicants who speak clearly, are well-versed in the field of dentistry, and shine through detailed and engaging responses.
Application Process
- Submit your application, which includes the video screening interview. Applications are due by June 9th, 2025 for the August 4th, 2025 program start.
- Program admissions committee will review your application and video screening interview and notify you of your acceptance decision.
- Applicants conduct clinical site matching for job shadowing and an externship program requirements.
- Applicants are recommended to meet and interview with their clinical site.
- Enrolled trainees will be offered connection to a local CareerLink to schedule a meeting for any eligible supportive services.
Essential Program Standards
Offers of admission are contingent upon the applicant's ability to fulfill the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Essential Program Standards.
Deposit
If an applicant is offered admission to the program, an enrollment deposit in the amount of $100.00 is required. All deposits are refundable until June 20th, 2025. Upon matriculation, all deposits will be credited towards program.
Program Fee Information & Support
- Program fee is $5,500: A payment plan is available upon request.
- Trainees will be supplied with all instructional materials needed including online resources, textbook modules, and simulation software.
- Radiation Health & Safety exam fee and registration is included.
- Applicants may pursue clinical site sponsorship in lieu of program fee. Contact the program office for more information.
Technology Requirements
- All Pitt Dental Medicine trainees are required to have a laptop with up-to-date technical specifications. Please note that tablets are not compatible with the required technology.
- These requirements must be met in order to use our electronic simulation solution, SIMTICS. For more information, please visit the SIMTICS support site for detailed minimum system requirements.
- Computer must have a working webcam and microphone.
- Internet connection with download speeds should be 10 mbps or higher.
- Strong technology skills are required of trainees to complete the online coursework.
