The Pitt Dental Medicine Office of Hospital Affairs facilitates and coordinates activity between the School of Dental Medicine and the many UPMC facilities in the Pittsburgh Community. Included in this list are UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Mercy, UPMC Montefiore, UPMC Shadyside, and Pittsburgh Children’s hospital.
Dr. Helen Giannakopoulos, Associate Dean of Hospital Affairs, directs this office, which includes two advanced education programs; the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency and the General Practice Residency in General Dentistry.
The office also coordinates dental providers involvement in the Oral Cancer Survivorship Clinic, the Craniomaxillofacial reconstructive team, dental care of hospital patients awaiting transplant and cardiac surgery, and Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma on-call services to the UPMC hospitals.
