Dr. Kalra has served as Clinical Associate Professor in the Pitt Dental Medicine Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics since 1997. He previously served as Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut and Case Western Reserve University. He has received several awards for excellence in clinical and didactic teaching.
Dr. Kalra received a master’s degree and advanced training in orthodontics from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, as well as the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Angle Society and a Diplomat (Orthodontics) of the Royal College of Surgeons, London, England. He has designed several appliances for orthodontic treatment, including the K-Loop molar distalizing appliance, K-SIR archwire and K-9 spring. He is also involved in research and has published numerous papers. Dr. Kalra is also a reviewer for leading peer review journals.
Dr. Kalra lectures widely around the world on orthodontic techniques he has innovated and appliances he has designed, having presented about 100 international lectures and courses in 33 countries. In addition, Dr. Kalra maintains busy private practices in Austintown and Salem, Ohio.
Dr Kalra enjoys travel, especially off the beaten path, golf and spending time with his family.
