Dr. Noah Herrick recently joined the University of Pittsburgh in 2023 as a postdoctoral associate of the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics. He is a bioinformatics scientist, with a PhD degree in biology and bioinformatics from Purdue University in Indianapolis. Prior to his graduate work, Dr. Herrick discovered his excitement for research in human genetics as an undergraduate student in biology and anthropology at Indiana University‐Purdue University Indianapolis. His research background stems from these experiences where he became proficient in several programming languages to optimize large‐scale genomic data analyses for human genetics of complex traits. Dr. Herrick’s research interests are driven to better understand the effects of human genetic admixture in biogeographic ancestry inference and how global and local ancestry assessments are influencing the discovery of genetic markers associated with complex traits. Studies of complex traits are gradually including more diverse and underrepresented populations which is of paramount importance as it will lead to better healthcare for more people while also comprehensively increasing scientific insights of the human genome
