Dr. Letícia Chaves de Souza is an associate professor of the Pitt Dental Medicine Department of Endodontics. She earned her dental degree and certificate in endodontics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She also obtained a certificate in endodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She has a master’s degree in endodontics and her PhD degree is in materials science.
Her research focuses on the physical-chemical, mechanical, and biological properties of endodontic materials and instruments, as well as on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying apical periodontitis. She has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts in endodontics and one book chapter in endodontic filling materials.
