Halima Abukabbos BDS MPH CPH FRCD(C)

Assistant Professor/ Program Director

Dr. Abukabbos is a clinical assistant professor and the director of the Advanced Education and Residency Program in Pediatric Dentistry. She earned her dental degree, doctorate, and certificate in pediatric dentistry from Saudi Arabia. She then earned her advanced education residency and postdoctoral fellowship certificates in pediatric dentistry, master’s degree in public health with a major in public health management, research and policy from the University of Florida, Gainesville. 

Dr. Abukabbos is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the ADEA PASS Application Advisory Group, a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and an American Board Certified in Public Health from the American National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE). She is an active member of the American College of Diplomates of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She served as a former clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in Detroit, Mich. She worked for more than 20 years as a pediatric dentist and director. She has published multiple research projects and presented lectures and workshops in several international conferences. 

In addition to her teaching and administrative responsibilities, she provides dental care for children and adolescents at University Dental Health Services (UDHS) and serves as a member in the Pre-Doctoral Admission, Workload and Pediatric Dentistry Faculty Search Committees at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Abukabbos received the Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor certificate award for the top 1% of the postgraduate students at the University of Florida. She received multiple international recognitions due to her service as a keynote speaker and examiner. She was also awarded an appreciation medal from the Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia for her international volunteer community service during the COVID 19 pandemic. Her research interest includes public health and special health care dentistry.
