Faith Mahan is a full-time faculty member in the Pitt Dental Medicine Dental Hygiene Program. Faith serves as the first-year clinic coordinator and is the course director for Dental Hygiene Preclinic, Clinic 1 and Clinic 2 as well as Introduction to Dental Hygiene and Dental Hygiene Seminar 1, 2 and 3.
Ms. Mahan graduated from Pitt Dental Hygiene in 1994, and earned a bachelor of science in Dental Hygiene in 2006, with a focus in education. She earned a master of science from the University of Pittsburgh in Health and Physical Activity Programming and Promotion in August 2020.
Throughout her career, Ms. Mahan worked in both general and periodontal practices. She started working as a part time clinical instructor in the Dental Hygiene Department in 2008, and was appointed to a full-time faculty position in 2013.
Faith serves as chair of the Dental Hygiene Curriculum Committee and the First-Year Clinical Evaluation Committee. She is a member of the Second-Year Clinical Evaluation Committee, Dental Hygiene Progress Committee, and Dental Hygiene Outcomes Committee. She also serves as the school's Dental Hygiene Alumni Representative and is a member of the Alumni and Professional Community Committee as well as the school's Culture Club. She holds memberships in the American Dental Hygiene Association, Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene Association, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addiction (IRETA) the Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP), and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
