Dr. Cortino Sukotjo earned his dental degree from Padjadjaran University in Indonesia, his PhD from UCLA School of Dentistry, his MMSc and certificate in prosthodontics from Harvard University, and his MPHE from the University of Illinois Chicago. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of both the American College of Prosthodontics and the Academy of Prosthodontics, an ADEA/William J. Geis Foundation Education Fellow, the ADEA-Prosthodontics Section president, and past-president of the IADR/AADR Prosthodontics Research Group.
Dr. Sukotjo’s career reflects his strong commitment to dental education and research. He has co-authored approximately 200 publications and mentored more than150 predoctoral, resident, masters, and PhD students and junior faculty members. His research interests include dental education, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, corrosion-tribocorosion, and the use of nanotechnology in dentistry. He was drawn to Pitt Dental Medicine by its strong tradition of academic excellence and its reputation as an institution that addresses the challenges of dental education, oral healthcare, and research. He envisions a department composed of educators and researchers who generate positive energy, implement innovation and technology in dental education, and help evolve the school to achieve its mission.
