Dr. Bazina is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She received her DDS from Garyounis University in Libya, and earned her MS in orthodontics from Alexandria University in Egypt. She earned her PhD in oral biology and pathology from Stony Brook University, School of Dental Medicine in New York, and obtained her second master's degree in dental sciences with a certificate in orthodontics from the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. Upon completion, she joined Pitt Dental Medicine.
Dr. Bazina's research interests include understanding the stem cell phenotype during odontogenesis and identifying appropriate stem cell sources for tissue engineering approaches such as enamel. In addition to studying the relationship between BMI and dental development among different ethnic groups.
