Meer Ahmed, a Pitt Dental Medicine Oral Biology master's degree student, received the award for "Most Outstanding Presentation" in the area of Clinical Research at the 2018 Hinman Student Research Symposium. Mr. Ahmed presented his research titled, "Scaffold-free Dental Pulp Cell Sheets to Enhance Facial Nerve Regeneration." He has performed his current research at Pitt Dental Medicine's Center for Craniofacial Regeneration under the mentorship of Dr. Fatima Syed-Picard.
The Hinman Student Research Symposium is a national meeting that features oral and poster presentations of research studies by dental students and graduate trainees from dental schools across North America. The goal of the symposium is to help raise and maintain the quality of dental research and education in the U.S. by encouraging the participation of dental students, graduate trainees, and dental school faculty.
