Congratulations to Dr. Mary L. Marazita, Pitt Dental Medicine distinguished professor, on receiving a subaward of $442,546 as co-PD/PI with Johns Hopkins University. This prestigious grant was awarded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) & National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).
Dr. Mary L. Marazita, co-director of the Pitt Dental Medicine Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics (CCDG), received the grant entitled, “Differences between the sexes among genetic variants affecting orofacial cleft birth defect risk,” to support research that explores existing genomic data from family-based studies of cleft palate birth defects in different ethnic groups. The research will study the underlying mechanisms for differential risks for these common birth defects between the sexes.
