Ms. Riccelli is a 1974 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine Dental Hygiene Program. She received her BS (Natural Science) in 1974 and an MS (education track) in 1984 from the School of Health Related Professions, University of Pittsburgh. Her current academic rank is Associate Professor; and she has served as Director of the Dental Hygiene Program from 1992 to present.
Ms. Riccelli serves, or has served, on the regional and national level as: member of ADEA Student Financial Aid Advisory Committee (SFACC) Task Force; member Colgate Educators Network; consultant to the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA) in the capacity of a dental hygiene clinical examiner and captain 1999-present, IT Data entry for CDCA dental clinical examinations, 2014-present; member of the ADLEX Dental Hygiene Examination Committee 2007-2012; officer of the Oral/Dental Hygiene Research Group, International Association for Dental Research 1995-1999, chair in 1999; member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Oral Health Institute 1998-2004, chair 2004; consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) 1998-2003; and serves as a reviewer for the Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Journal; and member of the University of Pittsburgh Senate Benefits and Welfare Committee 2007-present, chair 2011 to 2015; numerous University of Pittsburgh committees. Her research interests include: aggressive form of periodontal disease, association between oral and systemic health, the importance of self-care and prevention of dental diseases, interporfessional education and training, and works in collaboration with the Graduate School of Nursing in areas of Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) student interprofessional education and training.
